YouTube as a platform to represent a business is starting to become more popular. YouTube itself was first started on February 2005. Founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, these men were former PayPal employees. Youtube was one of the fastest growing sites in 2006 and now is ranked 3rd globally and 4th for the U.S. The average person spends 19 minutes and 28 seconds a day on the site.
Youtube also has over 6 billion hours of video watched each month on its site. Youtube offers a partner program. This program was created in 2007 letting youtubers earn money from their videos. With more than a million advertisers using google and platforms, lots of people can see different ads or content. With almost 40 percent of viewers watching the videos on mobile devices many different groups of people can watch from anywhere.
Youtube allows you to create your own channel for free. Uploading content is also free as well. Once the content is uploaded you can also manage the comments section. No matter where you go on the internet there will always be people out there who want to cause trouble. You have the option to delete offensive comments or point those spam straight into your recycle bin. Another ability you have with your channel is you can categorize content. Making it easier for viewers to find videos or watch a select group together.
